Chapel House Bed & Breakfast

Dorset Bed and Breakfast Accommodation near
Dorchester, Sherborne, Cerne Abbas, Piddletrenthide, Buckland Newton, Piddlehinton, Plush and Puddletown

Malcolm Scholes welcomes visitors to the casual and informal atmosphere of Chapel House, where guests can unwind and enjoy the comforts of this converted chapel, read a book or relax in the conservatory.

Chapel House is situated in the quiet village of Henley, between the historic towns of Dorchester and Sherborne. Close by are a variety of local pubs and restaurants offering a wide choice of menu, wines and local beer. There are many beautiful walks over the hills in all directions with wild flowers and birds in abundance. We live in Hardy country, so follow the Hardy trail and discover Hardy's Wessex for yourselves. Dorset has a wonderfully varied coastline stretching from Poole in the East to Lyme Regis and beyond in the West simply waiting to be explored, whilst inland historic villages beckon in the gentle valleys. National Trust, English Heritage and private properties with beautiful gardens are everywhere just waiting to be visited and enjoyed. See the tanks in action at Bovington or sample the off road delights of the Henley Hillbillies nearby. The Gaggle of Geese public house and restaurant is a fifteen minute walk along a quiet country road, if you do not feel like driving after a long day and they serve good food too. There are at least another eight pubs serving food within fifteen minutes drive and Sherborne and Dorchester are twenty minutes drive with all they have to offer.

Malcolm Scholes is also an artist and illustrator, specializing in natural history, architecture and landscapes. His preferred medium is pen and ink, sometimes wash and also color. He keeps a notebook on his person at all times and fills it with daily notes and anything which catches his eye, more often than not from the back of a horse from which he cannot think of a finer view point in all England. He has lately been honing his skill illustrating faces in pen and ink wash and may be persuaded to take on a guests or two! Some of these illustrations are available in card form, however they are not sold in shops but can be purchased by visitors and may be viewed on www.inkquill.co.uk

Whatever your interest I am sure that you will enjoy your visit.
